Mabry Mill

A couple days ago, Peter got off work early so we decided to take a drive up on the parkway.  We stopped at Mabry Mill, and since it was a gorgeous day, we took advantage of the weather and got some good pictures.
Here's Hayden "reading" the sign.  They have preserved several parts of this mill/farm.  There was the water mill (obviously), and also the house, the blacksmith shop, a bark mill (where they grind bark to get the stuff to tan hides), another mill that they used when making sorghum, a whiskey still, a bunch of farm equipment, and lots of the wooden "thingys" that the water ran across on its way to the mill.  It was a pretty neat place.

Hayden and Maycee in an old wagon.

Hayden by the stream going into the pond.

The old house.  This is actually the back of the house, but it looked pretty much the same as the front.

"Anybody home?"  Maycee loves to knock on doors...

Maycee with her walking stick.  Hayden had one, so she had to get one too.  And a bigger one!

The old whiskey still.

These are some of the wooden "thingys" that the water ran through.  I don't know what they are called.
